Sully Shih Tzu's Summer Vacation

Hello everyone,

I wanted to post some of the pictures from the vacation I took with the family last week to the Seattle / Tacoma area. I had a fun time meeting new people and getting to hang out with Lena's mom, Cousin Teddy, didn't care alot for Bernice, she was too big for me, and I met Lena's brother who lives next door. His name is Carlos.

We spent a week there and other than the airport where I had to be in the kennel and made a complete fool of myself before I got on the plane, I had a super good time.

Being by the lake and seeing all the new things was really cool. I am back home now and back to a regular routine.

Here are the pictures, I will talk more about my vacation in a couple days

Something Strange is Happening in Sully Shih Tzu Land Today

Hello Everyone,

First time I have talked to you since my best dog friend Buddy passed away. I will say that I still miss him and always will. Lena and I are living with his memory always in us.

Recap of Tuesday Aug 11th --

Ok so now on to the strange stuff happening around here.

Monday night or should I say Tuesday morning, we don’t go to bed until after midnight.
What is with the suitcases and the kennels in the hallway?

Then pop gets us up at 3am today. Some noise woke us, I guess it is an alarm clock which I don’t hear here very often. Scared me and Lena, I mean, come on now, we were in a sound sleep.

We take a walk at 3:30 am – this is very strange. No cars, no other dogs, just a very nice calm, no wind comfortable early morning. This is kind of cool because we have it all to ourselves. Well, almost. There was a house that has a dog that stays outside and he heard us thru the fence and he started barking. I am very sure the neighbors (not our nearby neighbors) enjoyed that. At least this time they can’t blame us since we were only provoking him and not doing the barking.

Pops friend comes over at 5am – now it is really getting strange – so I express myself which I do often when something dangerous is happening. I think maybe I am a little more dramatic than I need to be, but at least I get the attention. Since expressing myself doesn’t smell too good, pop has to give me a quick Butt Bath. That is what he calls it. He tells his friend thanks for coming over a few minutes early because he figured I would do this. I don’t know why I do it because it is not like the first time he has come over. I just don’t remember back far enough to realize he is a friend.

We then go for a ride and end up at a big building and Lena and I get put in our kennels.
This has never happened before.

Mom feeds me some cheese with something in it, but I am not buying it. Can’t calm me down.

Mom and Pop are standing at a counter (I am told that it is a check in counter, but for what?) and I am in my kennel – I want out, I am used to being with my pop not in this kennel. I don’t feel so cool right now. I am really nervous and kind of scared. This is different from the groomers or even the prison (actually the boarding place, I am being kind of hard on them calling it a prison) that I wrote about last time mom and pop took a trip.
We go to some other room and pop takes me out of the kennel and they put some wand on me and look at my kennel. I am so confused.

Lena and I both go down an elevator and now we aren’t with mom and pop anymore.
At 8:30 our time, we start moving and then a big loud thunder type noise is happening. Most of our thunder storms have noises that only last a few seconds. This one lasts for about 2 minutes and then it feels like we are floating. Wow – this is really weird. Where are mom and pop?
Ok this floating goes on for about 2 hours and it is kind of neat. I can actually relax for a bit and take a nap. All of a sudden it gets a little bit noisy again and it feels like he hit some big rocks or a rough road like when pop takes me for a ride. Then we stop and now there is daylight again, but the air feels different. Where are we?????

We come into the daylight and on some type of vehicle that moves us to another building. Then we are set down and we see people walking by us. I am at the front of the kennel trying to look out and then all of a sudden I see MOM. Oh Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this time I don’t care where we are, just let me see MOM and wow, I see POP too!!!!! Yipee!!!!!!!

Mom and Pop put us on a cart and then we go outside where we see cars and trucks again. Pop takes me out of the kennel and I give him a hug and start licking his face. I am so glad that I am with him and mom again.

We then get into a truck with Mom’s daughter and son in law and Lena’s Mom Ella. We drive for about an hour in this area where everything is green. Is this OZ I ask myself, as if I really even know where Oz is. Was that a tornado that hit us last night? How did we get here??? Doesn’t really matter to me, I am with Mom, Pop, and Lena and all is cool.

Until we get to this really nice big house. Oh, oh, there are 2 more dogs there. One is 4 months old and bigger than my old friend Buddy. I remember Lena when she was 4 months old, but she was a little punk, this is a little bit bigger dog. Will I have to run for my life again???

I will keep you posted.

Lena, Lets check this strange place out

I think I will hang out here

Nice View

This is a very different place, must be Oz

Should I?

Bye for now!!!

My Best Friend has Gone to Heaven

Hello Everyone,

This is by far the hardest entry into my blog that pop and I have done yet.
I lost my very best dog friend in the world on Wednesday June 24 2009 about 5:45pm.
It is with a sad heart that I inform you that Buddy has passed away. He was my very best friend.

There was a time when my 2 family sisters Chanel and Coco, 2 poodles had to leave and go to Mom and Pops daughter in Reno because both Mom and Pop were not well enough to take care of them and the daughter volunteered to give them a home that we knew would be good. The problem was that I was now alone and I was used to a lot more activity. Mom and Pop both did what they could to love me and keep me happy as you can see from earlier entries.

One April morning my mom saw a beautiful face on channel 9, (9 news) and it turned out that it was Buddy. Mom fell in love with him; he was up for adoption at the Denver Dumb Friends League, pop told her how to get to there. Mom had a Dr. appointment that morning and had to drive across Denver to get in line first. She was determined to get him, she made it just in time to be first and was able to adopt Buddy. He came home the next day and we were friends right off the bat even though he was 16.5 lbs and I was 10 lbs at the time.

We played all the time, barked at the neighbors, protected the house and I showed Buddy how to get spoiled. Buddy had gone thru almost 5 years of abuse prior to coming to us.

Buddy became part of my blog entries and he became a much loved dog, supporting the reason why he was called Buddy. His original name was Butter, but Buddy was an easy change to make.

We had a a very tough day Wednesday, we spent the evening in the back yard, thank you lord for making the weather that night beautiful so we could light up all the torches and just remember our best friend.

There were a lot of tears shed, a lot of love shared, and a great friend that may be gone from our lives physically, but I guarantee you, never from our thoughts. A piece of us died Wednesday night, but we were also very grateful that we could give Buddy 2 plus years of love that he never got on his first 5 years.

Pop says that Buddy was the most humble dog he had ever seen. He would wait until Lena or I would eat before he would, the same with drinking water. Buddy couldn’t wait for pop to come home from work, he would get so excited, meet him at the door in the Laundry room and pop would pick him up and give him a big hug. There were other times that pop would just go up to him and say, Buddy you need a hug? Buddy’s tail would wag and pop would pick him up and just give him the biggest hug you have ever seen and tell him he loved him.

Buddy would hang around mom in the morning because he knew she was going to feed him. We figure he had to fight for his food before he came here by the way he acted. He was around big dogs before and he had to wait his turn.

Buddy couldn’t wait to go on walks with pop whenever the chance was there. Most days this was part of the routine and sometimes 2 times a day. He would walk with me and then later when Lena came to us, with all three of us, Pop had his challenges juggling 3 leases, but you could see he loved it. He always gave us the length of the leash and let us explore the trail, which was almost a mile long. I heard him say to mom that he loved the curiosity we showed on the walks. Buddy always walked on the left side and in the grass just off the trail. I walked on the right side right at the edge and then when Lena came, she was all over the place.

Buddy brought us so much love and to think he had to go thru so much before he came to us. He was so gentle, always laid back, but could get it on when it came time to play. Buddy and Lena would chase each other all over the house almost nightly around 9pm. That is already missed. It is much quieter in the house.

It is hard to say good bye to him, all of us are having a hard time but that is only because we loved him sooooo much.

I am putting some pictures in here of the time we spent outside Wednesday night of the yard that we now call Buddy’s Paradise. He loved the back yard. It was safe for him, area to explore, lounge chairs and benches for him to take naps on when the weather was nice and plenty of activity with the squirrels, birds and neighbors.

Also are some pictures of Buddy the day we brought him home from the Denver Dumb Friends League and a picture of a few days before he passed.

We hope you scan back thru some of the stories that involved Buddy and say goodbye to him also.

You wonder where 2 years went so fast when you lose someone that you have spent time with and love so much. If I was told 2 years ago that Buddy would be gone, I would have thought it would be an eternity, not so, it went by fast, just glad he was my best dog friend.

Below are some pictures of Wednesday night and Buddy when he came to us and one of his last pictures

With all our Love to Buddy,

Goodbye, thank God for giving you to us for 2 plus years, be at Peace Buddy.

May Update of Sully Shih Tzu

Hello everyone,

May was a busy month for all of us at the household. Mom and Pop were busy for the entire month either finishing up projects inside the house or doing the annual landscaping outside.

Unfortunately for me, I do not get alot of personalized attention during this period. Shih Tzu's need to be the center of attention. To top it off, The Denver Nuggets basketball team also went on an incredible run and guess who was a couch potato during that run. You guessed it. Pop watched all the games. Of course I sat in his lap most of the time so that was cool. but he would get excited at times and it would scare me because I was in a sound sleep. I would then go back to sleep and it would happen again.

To get back at him, the other day he wasn't feeling real good and was falling asleep quite a bit during the early evening. I pretended that someone was outside and I would start howling and wake him up. He would get upset with me, but then he would go back to sleep and I would give him about 10 minutes and do it again. He still doesn't get that I was paying him back.

Anyway, I miss Tiel, our cockatiel that passed away on 4-15. The house has a different sound in it now.

I am glad summer is coming because that means I get to go to the batting cages with pop and watch him try to be young again. He says the pitching machine is coming in at 80 mph. Yeah right and I hunt Ducks too. Sometimes he is just too much.

Lena, my sister, has outgrown me now. She weighs 14 lbs and I am only 11. Because I am the smallest now, I get all the sympathy. How cool is that???

I will post some updated pictures in a few days and once again, promise I will keep up to date.

Sully Says Goodbye to a Friend

Hello Everyone,

Recently I had to say goodbye to a very good friend of mine. Our Bird, Tiel ( he was a cockatiel) was 19 years old and he just got too tired and at 7:52 on April 15th, he took his last breath. Pop was trying to get home to see him one last time but he was about 5 minutes late getting home to see him. He was sorry that he couldn't see him one last time alive, however he did see him before he left for work and he knew that he may not see Tiel alive again.

Tiel was a cool bird, he could talk, sing, whistle, all kind of things. His favorite word or phrases were, I love you, Here Kitty Kitty, Come in (after he would make a knocking sound with his beak) He would whislte London Bridge, Farmer in the Dell and many others that were totally off tune, but they were his.

The house is now a lot quieter, however Buddy, Lena and Myself try to keep it chaotic as much as possible.

I will miss you Tiel, you gave the house personality and it was nice to hear you every morning waking all of us up. You will be missed.

With love from all of us, Rest in Peace Tiel

Its Springtime?

Hello everyone,

Thanks for stopping by, we all appreciate it.
Living in Colorado is really cool. Just 3 days ago we had record highs and we were sitting outside with pop with the umbrellas up so we wouldn't get sun burned. Yes, we can get sunburned too.

So what changed?

Well, when we went out this morning and were sitting on the back porch, we kind of thought it would be just like another day, a little cooler, but what the heck.

Of course, pop knew the weather was going to turn on us but he didn't tell us. Actually, I am not really sure how he would.

Anyway, we do our usual in the morning, walk around the yard, make sure no one else has been in our territory, then we usually go back in and just relax for the day that any dog would have to face. The life of leisure, while pop goes to work and makes sure we have what we need.

Pop didn't go to work today, he takes days off sometimes, so he took me for a ride. We went to the store and library for a few minutes each and then home.

After that, I noticed that the snow was starting to come down harder. Mom and Pop decide to go back out. They had a couple errands to run and then they got a Pizza.
Of course, I got to go with them. Nothing like Pizza on a cold day. Problem is, I coudldn't care less about their pizza, I don't eat them anyway.

I do care about the fact that even I knew that the driving conditions were bad. Couldn't see farther than maybe 1/8 of a mile. It was really a blizzard, white out conditions. Pop said, he should have brought his sunglasses since they have a glare protector in them and they really work in these conditions. He said that he wasn't able to see real good,(wow that makes me feel real safe), since the ice kept freezing on the wipers which kept them from working correctly. Anyway, we finally made it home safe.

When we were watching the TV, one of the things that they were saying is that several of the drivers were having trouble with the ice freezing on their wipers and they were pulling off or stoping on the roads to knock the ice off. They asked that people not do that since it was causing some problems.

Here is what I don't get. How in the world do the people that are driving know that they are creating a problem and are supposed to heed the advice of the TV news teams when they aren't in front of their TV. The last time I checked, most people don't have TV's in their cars. I don't know if pop got out and knocked ice of of his wipers, I had my eyes closed because we couldn't see anyway. I think I took a nap. I do know that he saw the news on TV about the ice on wipers and he said something about how he did knock the ice off in a different way than how they were describing it. I said yeah, sure pop. Anyway, I will let you decide for yourselves, what he really did.

Below are some pictures of the day unfolding. No snow, little snow, more snow, Buddy saying I am not going back out, Everyone back out lots of snow.

Hey Pop How About a Hair cut

Hello everyone.
As pop is writing this, I am at Petsmart getting a haircut. I had get all over pop to get me a haircut. It is almost as if he forgot all of us.
It has been 7 weeks since our last cut and lately we have been having some very nice weather here for this time of year.
Gee, I wonder what it would be like if pop wore his heavy jacket all the time. I am sure he would get warm and take it off. In fact I guarantee you, he would. I have seen him do it many times when he says he is warm.
Well, guess what pop, I can't take my coat off when I get warm. I have to pant to stay cool. That is how we do it.
By the way, what were you waiting for anyway?

Did you just forget?
Did you loose interest?
Were you short of funds?

If you were short of funds, haven't you heard of the bailouts that have been happening? Remember, I lay around the house all day and I hear that on the TV all the time. Plenty of money is going out there for all kinds of stuff. I think I am just as important.

I am sure you could have applied for some of that Tarp money. You may have even been able to get a bonus and maybe get me some treats too.

Wow, I have kind of gone into a short rant here, haven't I? OK, I will get off the soapbox and hopefully, you can keep your mind of me long enough to come and pick all of us up.

OK, I will see you soon, right pop? It is getting kind of late.

Later

Love ya, Sully, Buddy, Lena

Just to Say Hello

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to take a minute out of my very busy Dog schedule ( I need a day planner to keep up with my activities) and say hello and give a little update on things around here.
2 weeks ago Lena had her surgery and also had a hernia repaired. She had to spend the night in the doggie hospital. That meant I had the house to myself and Buddy. Great, relaxing, no F5 tornadoes around here.

Pop told me that when she came home, she would be subdued and I would have many more relaxing nights before she was back to herself.

Guess what, I think pop doesn't have a clue because the minute she got out of the car and saw me, up came the storm again. I will have to say that it was only an F3 class tornado, but I kind of expected less.

Anyway, you get the picture. She has tremendous energy and I took it easy on her becasue I knew she didnt know that she was supposed to not be so rowdy.

After a few days, we got back to our old selves again and now we are playing hard.

I wish everyone well and will talk to you later.

Love

Sullly, Buddy, Lena

Sullybowl I

Hello everyone,

We had our own Superbowl here today. Pop threw the football down the hall and Lena and I chased it and whoever brought it back to pop got a point.

As usual, I started out quickly and got the first 3 before Lena actually was even into the game. I must admit, once she catches on, she can get pretty rough. I mean, today she actually jumped of the 3' high retaining wall in the back. I guess I should have know I was going to be in for a rough game after I saw that.
Lena got the next 2 points, then she recruited Buddy. You see, Buddy gets excited and starts barking when Lena and I play. It got me rattled and Lena got the next 2 as I went after Buddy and tried to shut him up. It must be what crowd noise is at those games on TV that pop watches.

Ok, after halftime, I got my cool back ( sullycooldog ) and I made good play after good play. Even though Lena is a puppy, and has energy, she gets distracted easily. I faked her out by acting like I was getting a treat and then when she tried to get it from me, I went for the ball and brought it home to pop. Final score Sully 8 Lena 7. I was really glad the old dog Buddy decided that he had enough excitement and took a nap in the second half so I could keep my concentration.

Why do I bring all this up. Well, remember I was born in Phoenix, my middle name is Phoenix, and I represent the Cardinals and if they just follow how I got the victory, then they can too.

Remember, you saw it here first. Good Luck Cardinals.
