Sullybowl I

Hello everyone,

We had our own Superbowl here today. Pop threw the football down the hall and Lena and I chased it and whoever brought it back to pop got a point.

As usual, I started out quickly and got the first 3 before Lena actually was even into the game. I must admit, once she catches on, she can get pretty rough. I mean, today she actually jumped of the 3' high retaining wall in the back. I guess I should have know I was going to be in for a rough game after I saw that.
Lena got the next 2 points, then she recruited Buddy. You see, Buddy gets excited and starts barking when Lena and I play. It got me rattled and Lena got the next 2 as I went after Buddy and tried to shut him up. It must be what crowd noise is at those games on TV that pop watches.

Ok, after halftime, I got my cool back ( sullycooldog ) and I made good play after good play. Even though Lena is a puppy, and has energy, she gets distracted easily. I faked her out by acting like I was getting a treat and then when she tried to get it from me, I went for the ball and brought it home to pop. Final score Sully 8 Lena 7. I was really glad the old dog Buddy decided that he had enough excitement and took a nap in the second half so I could keep my concentration.

Why do I bring all this up. Well, remember I was born in Phoenix, my middle name is Phoenix, and I represent the Cardinals and if they just follow how I got the victory, then they can too.

Remember, you saw it here first. Good Luck Cardinals.

Below, 2 players that left it on the field today.

Sully Cool Dog Happy New Year

Hello Everyone,

It is Jan 4th and the new year is off and running. We have had 68 degrees (Jan 2nd), 3" of snow (Jan 3rd) and 25 degrees as a high today (Jan 4th).

Lena has learned to jump onto the bench now and I am glad for that. She no longer needs to jump up and pull me to the floor by my ears as pictured below. That was ok at first, kind of funny, but it got very old after a couple of times.

We found a picture of me when I was 6 months old and I wanted to share it with you.

Hey Sully - Lend me an Ear

Hello everyone,

You are probably wondering what this title is about today.
It will take some imagination, but I am sure you have it, especially if you are reading my stories.

Since I am still the top dog in this house, ( but I may be losing some ground on that ranking), I have to share the story of how Lena is starting to move in on my status.

Looking at the picture below, you can see that I like to get on the couch because I know Lena can't get there yet. She will be able to soon, but for now, she is just a little too short on her jumps to get there. Why is all this important?

Lena has learned a little trick that once again humbles me. When I lean over the front of the couch, my ears hang just enough that Lena is able to jump up and grab one of my ears. She doesn't let go and now she has learned how to drag me off the couch by yanking on my ear and pulling me down.

Now, this is where your imagination comes in. The pictures shows the couch, now just imagine Lena jumping up with me taunting her. She finally gets my ear and then on her way down she yanks me off the couch. Really, it does happen and I have to give her credit for being very resourceful.

As soon as we can get a picture or video of this, we will post it.

For the time being, I am still tops and plan on staying there.

See ya Later from the 3 of us and

Happy Holidays

Sully and Winter Again

Hello Everyone,

Well, it is time again for winter. Our new sister got a taste of the real winter conditions here in Denver. You can see from the pictures that she was out in the very cold snow and then just had to relax by the fire to get warm.
Our low as -2 on Thursday night and then it warmed up to 62 on Sunday, but we are going on another roller coaster this week again with about 10" of snow forcast for the week.

We will show you how we did when pop takes some more pictures.

Lena says it is so much colder this time than last time it snowed.

Sully Says Happy T-day

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone,

This was our first Thanksgiving with our new Sister Lena. I am very thankful she has joined our family. She is getting to be quite the character. I am still a little jealous of her at times.

I have to tell you this quick story even if I am going to have to be humble to bring it on. The other day, pop was picking up the poops that we did in the yard and when he went to empty it in the special bucket we have, he saw one of the stuffed animals in there.

I don't know what goes thru his mind, but he kind of just looked at it, looked at us, of course we just turned our heads at him, then he looked at it again and just shook his head. He didn't say anything, just walked away.

Later that night, mom told him how Lena was playing with the stuffed chicken and that Sully ( thats me ) got very jealous or upset, she used different words, and he decided to put his mark on it. She had no choice but to put it in the garbage.

I know pop was laughing pretty good, because he said to her, I couldn't figure out what had happened, but I can sure see the top dog doing something like that.

I am told that it is a good thing I am the top dog, because if I would have been a human, I just might have received a nice little spanking for doing something like that.

It is nice to be able to do stuff like that and get away with it.

Anyway, I wanted to show you some of our Thanksgiving day pictures and wish everyone a Happy and Peaceful day.

Sully's Sister and Near Tragedy

Hello Everyone;

We had some major excitement around here 2 nights ago. Pop was getting ready to take us for a walk and we decided that Lena could go with us. Pop put her in the arm sling and we started off and got 2 houses down when Lina got excited and decided that she wanted join Buddy and Me.

There was only 1 problem. She was about 4’ in the air and she decided that she could fly. She tried to jump out of the sling and pop tried to stop her but she got away and took a nasty fall onto the concrete sidewalk. It scared the crap out of us; she was really hurt and crying like no ones business. Pop ran her to the house, he dropped the leashes we were on and we followed him back to the house. Mom took Lena and she (Lena) stopped crying. I was so scared, I ran upstairs and started crying also. Buddy was so concerned that he just sat there with his big eyes just staring at Lina.

After a little bit of time, maybe 30 minutes, human time( now I hear that if you multiply that by 7 which equals dog time, you can imagine how long that was to us) it looked like there were no serious injuries and pop took her and placed her on the floor because he wanted to see if she was walking straight. She was. Buddy was now walking next to her and was very gentle as he was concerned. Then I didn’t think I would see this happen but Buddy shared his chicken strip with Lena. We then went out to the back and now Buddy was playing with Lena and that was the first time that had happened. I finally came downstairs ( I was watching thru the railings) and went outside and we all started playing thankful that our new little sister, of which we were so jealous of just a few moments before had actually survived that nasty fall.

Now as you can see in the picture, both Buddy and I have accepted her and we are all one happy family as we lay on the bed together. We are glad that we have a sister; she is really getting to be fun to play with.

Sullycooldog4

Sometimes it takes a near tragedy to pull people together and I guess that we are not all that different. We have feelings too.

Talk to you all Later

Sully and Buddy are Back with new Sister

Hello everyone.
Wow, I haven't been on here since July 26th. What happened to Sully Shih Tzu during that time.

I have a new sister now. Her name is Lena.

Sully and Lena

When she was born she was so small that Mom and Pop named her that after Thumbalina (not sure of the spelling). She was born up in Washington State and Mom was up there for 3 weeks visiting with her daughter and then brought her home. She is pretty cool now, at least as far as I am concerned, but Buddy is having a hard time with her.

It was hard for me at first because you know, I am top billing around here and when Mom brought Buddy home, I was ok with that because it gave me a companion. When Mom brought home Lena, it was pretty much of a shock because we had been with Pop for 3 weeks and then a little whirling dervish comes into the house and kind of takes over. Honestly. I didn't know what it was at first. She is the size of a squirrel that runs around the back yard. I couldn't believe Mom and Pop were bringing in a squirrel from the back, then I figured it out after watching her for a day, that maybe she would be one of us. Buddy still doesn't know what she is, but he has always been a little slow anyway.

There has been alot happen since July 26th and I will get some of the stories out to all soon.

Go Ahead and Try it Buddy

Hello,

My favorite game with Buddy is to challenge him to get my treats. I put the treat down just far enough from Buddy to kind of give him a challenge to get it from me.
Buddy has a few years on me and I have to admit, he is much more patient than me.
He just kind of sits there and ignores me like he isn't bothered, but what that sly dog is doing is just waiting for my DADD ( Dog Attention Deficit Deficiency ) to kick in.

Of course, I am not going to let pop show a picture of Buddy finally getting the treat when I loose focus. That wouldn't fit my Shih Tzu ego very well. I will just give Buddy credit that he has more patience than me and always seems to get the treat in the end, but I really make him work for it.

Go ahead Buddy and take that treat,

I knew you couldn't do it

OK, he got it,but I am not showing that picture.

Bye for now,

Sully

Living the Shih Tzu Life

Hello everyone,

How is this for living the life, but I know I have been busted. Pop was looking for me today and he couldn't find me. He was calling for me and I wasn't coming. Why should I when I have found a place in the house that makes me feel like I am at the beach.
You can see from the pictures why pop is now calling me Tommy Bahama. It is nice and cool in this room and very quiet since hardly anyone ever comes in here.

sullycooldog

Here I am before he caught me when I am sleeping.

sullycooldog

This is the realization that I have been busted. But he is ok with it. I pretty much get most of what i want anyway around here.

Anyway, have a good day and later

It's About Time - No More Hot Dogs!!!

Hello everyone,

Yes, it is about time that Mom and Pop decided that the only hot dogs they should in this home are the ones on the Bar B Q.

Temperature folks! It has been getting hotter all summer and it is now July, with 95 to 100 degrees on several days. I am not sure about Mom and Pop but I believe they can get down to a lot less clothing than the coats that Buddy and I wear all year around. Sure they give us haircuts and keep our coats short, but come on.

I would like to thank them for turning on the Air Conditioning for the last 2 days that were very hot and for here in Colorado, very humid. It was very nice to spend the day inside where it was a lot cooler than outside.

We are very appreciative, thank you.

Talk to you all later.

Buddy Found a Toy

Hello again !

My brother Buddy must have had a rough life his first 4 years. You see, Mom and Pop adopted him after they saw him on TV one day and Mom made up her mind that instant that she wanted Buddy to be a part of us. Up until that time, and after my sisters Coco and Chanel left to live with Aunt Karen, I was the only game in town.

That is important to know so you won't think I am just a big spoiled brat. Of course being a Shih Tzu, I only know about myself, for myself and all that stuff. I always got all the toys, attention, snacks, etc.

Buddy comes from being outside most of his life, until he came to us, so he had no real idea about the paradise that I live in. It has taken him a while to fit in, but even I have to admit he is starting to come around to the life of being spoiled.

The other day, Mom and Pop couldn't figure out where Buddy was. They looked all over for him and then they found him. He was in the bedroom, grooming a pair of moms slippers that she had just bought.

Finally Buddy thought he had got a toy for himself and only for himself.

I thought Mom and Pop were going to die laughing until they figured out that what Buddy was really doing was taking care of what he thought was his first prize or toy he got for himself and that I didn't have a chance to lay claim on it. After everyone had a good laugh, mom put the slipper back in the closet.

In about another hour, Buddy disappeared. Pop went into the bedroom and once again Buddy was there grooming the slipper. It was at this time that pop figured out that Buddy was very serious about these slippers being his own and talked mom into just letting Buddy have them. After all, Buddy has always had to fight for everything he got and when I ( Sully ) even made a move toward the slippers, Buddy would growl at me, so I knew he was very serious. I gave into Buddy and have conceded that one thing to be his own.

Buddy is a very Humble, Patient, Loving dog and even I, the spoiled brat, know that he has to have something he can call his own.

These 2 pictures below show how proud Buddy is with moms slippers, other wise know as his own toys now.

sully cool dog brother buddy 1

sully cool dog brother buddy 2

In closing, I have to ask a question.

How many humans and myself included( I am not human) would have let a dog that has faced abuse for the first 4 years of his life, keep what he thought was a toy that actually was a pair of slippers, without getting upset and enjoying the actual pleasure of seeing a dog discover something for himself that he could own and take care of.

I am so glad I am with Mom and Pop.

See ya later

Sully and my brother Buddy

What Day is It?

Why do I aks this question? Here is why - If I am not mistaken, today is July 7th. July 4th was 3 days ago. I am a Shih Tzu and I can count that out.

OK- why are you nuts still shooting off fireworks? My goodness, don't you know that bothers both Buddy and Me. It makes us anxious and poor Buddy, he is so scared he won't even go potty until 2 in the morning. I am sure pop loves that.

We put up with the July 4th fireworks and all the loud bangs. We will give you that, but I am not putting up with it anymore.

Buddy is so scared of the noise that he has to get pop to take him down to the basement so he won't hear all the noise. Now that it appears that the fireworks are going to end,it looks like we are going to get Thunder.

OK, I have done my rant, it is time to go back and take a nap.

All I ask is that you celebrate July 4th in one day.

Now if you want to celebrate my Birthday or Christmas more than one day, I am cool with that.

Bye for Now

Sully and Buddy Close Call

Hello everyone,
The last time I posted, I told you about my prison vacation. Well, I think my pop likes playing with my dog mind because last Friday at about the same time of the evening, mom and pop ask me if I want to go for a ride. Of course I do, I am a dog and I get excited when I get to do the things I really like.

Going for a ride is always something I do as soon as I even sense I have a chance to go. Anyway, I ran out to the truck like I always do, you know I have to be first in everything including getting into the truck. That is all cool, but when Buddy came along, I knew something was up. You see, Buddy doesn't like to go for rides, he usually gets sick. He is very patient and just waits at home when I go.

So, we take off and now we are going the same way as we did when I went to the prison. Come on, this can't be happening again, I am thinking to myself. Now my tail isn't wagging, I am not the happy dog I usually am because I think I have been duped again.

We are getting closer to the place and I am getting nervous, all of a sudden I see the prison, but guess what, we pass the exit. I am now relieved. I still don't understand why Buddy is with us in the car. The only other time he goes with me is.......... oh I get, we must be going to the groomer.

OK, this time I am glad to go, because I know I am not doing time there, it is only a few hours. We pull in to Petsmart and I am finally relieved, yes it is the groomers. Below are my before and after pics. Somehow Buddy's got misplaced, but it still is really about me anyway.

Me Before the groomer - I look pretty cool here don't I?

Anyway, I made it out of the groomer and got back home, but that was a close call.

Sully and Buddy on Vacation

Hello everyone,

This is going to be very short tonight. Just want to let everyone know that Buddy and I have been on vacation ( if that is what you want to call it). Maybe Mom and Pop were on vacation and maybe they think being in a Kennel for 10 days is a vacation to us, but I have news for you, that wasn't a vacation. While they were in Seattle, just lounging around, playing golf, shopping, going to Mariner games and all that stuff, Buddy and I did the dead man walking march to our kennels ( we had no idea that this is where we were going, thought it was just another ride)and were we ever steamed once we figured out that we were stuck with all those other inmates.

What an experience. Do these other dogs bark all the time when they are at home. It was tough sleeping at times and the prison food was horrible. Oh that's right, that was our food, well it tasted like prison food. Whats next, orange jump suits. Wouldn't put it past pop to do something like that.

Anyway, I have to make this quick tonight, but will be back in writing mode soon with some more of the experiences we had.
